We are now halfway through 2026. Over the past year, the global fertilizer industry has faced multiple challenges: supply chain disruptions, cost fluctuations, and intensifying market competition.

How has FertiStream China responded? What has it achieved? Where is it headed? Mr. Qiu Huafang, General Manager of FertiStream China, who is responsible for business development in the region, shared his insights with us.

Could you share FertiStream China’s core business positioning and current development direction?

Our primary goals are to provide Chinese agriculture with high-quality fertilizer solutions and professional services by integrating premium global products. We are also laying the groundwork for future expansion into feed phosphates and high-water-soluble SOP as we see great potential in these segments of the market.

As regards business development, we are strategically transforming from a one-way, single-channel model into a two-way, multi-channel value stream. This means we are not only bringing global resources and technologies to China but also sharing China’s resources with global markets.

What have been FertiStream China ‘s main achievements over the past year? What challenges have you faced, and how have you addressed them?

The past year has been challenging, but our professional team successfully navigated major supply chain fluctuations and kept our business stable through the storms. While some players exited the market or reduced supply, we remained fully committed — ensuring uninterrupted access to some of the longest-established and most trusted compound fertilizer brands.

In terms of market performance, our core NPK business performed better than the market trend. For example, in southern cash crop regions, sales of Nitrophoska and ENTEC increased by approximately 15% year-on-year.

How do you see the current state of China’s fertilizer market?

China ‘s fertilizer market is highly mature, bringing intense competition. I am proud to say that FertiStream contributed to it by operating a range of high-quality products to serve diverse customer needs. Our global sourcing capabilities allow us to remain competitive while maintaining industry-leading quality and safety standards.

What are FertiStream’s main products? What are their core strengths?

Nitrophoska and ENTEC are our main drivers, together accounting for over 90% of our compound fertilizer sales. Built on globally sourced raw materials and Antwerp plant’s unique technology, ensuring full-spectrum mineral nutrition. This combination gives us a distinct competitive edge. Fertiva, another product in our range that is in high demand among our customers, is known for its balanced quality and cost-effectiveness, leveraging logistics and production advantages.

How does FertiStream address diverse needs across different regions in China? What market development activities have you carried out?

China‘s diversity makes it difficult to apply a single approach. Local farming techniques and channel models are constantly evolving, pushing us to innovate.

For example, the domestic production of drip and sprinkler irrigation equipment has significantly lowered costs, allowing this technology to spread rapidly. To adapt, FertiStream has expanded into water-soluble and granular water-soluble fertilizers, developing new product lines.

In terms of market development, last year we organized over 50 field trials across major provinces including Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, and Zhejiang, covering both cash and field crops. At the same time, we held more than 100 farmer training sessions and field demo days, directly reaching over 5,000 growers.

As an imported brand, how do you ensure supply chain and logistics reliability?

We take a forward-looking approach to supply chain management. We work with long-term, stable logistics partners, continuously improving shipping routes and maintaining contingency plans for extreme conditions.

We are expanding our presence in Black Sea and Baltic ports, while also developing rail transport infrastructure via China-Europe routes. These investments in logistics resilience have enabled us to maintain a stable and reliable supply to the Chinese market — even during major global trade disruptions.

What are FertiStream China’s key priorities for the coming period? What gives you confidence in long-term development?

In the coming years, FertiStream China will transform from a service center into an operations center. We are broadening our portfolio with new product categories, including feed phosphates and high-water-soluble SOP, while also entering the raw material trade.

In just two years, FertiStream China has grown into the service center for the Asia-Pacific region. I believe we have a great chance to become a leader in imported compound fertilizers, imported water-soluble fertilizers, raw material trade, and local production.

With strong resources, technical expertise, and a dedicated China team, FertiStream China is well-positioned for long-term growth.

In one sentence, why should distributors and growers choose FertiStream?

Choosing FertiStream means European quality, local service, and a lasting partnership.
